This edition was organised by Anastassios Petropoulos, Eric Gustafson, Gregory Whiffen, Brian Anderson of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Outer Planets Mission Analysis Group. The problem was released on the 15th of May 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a nutshell<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The theme chosen for this competition was “settler of the galaxy”. Three types of interstellar generational vessels are imagined to be sent around the Milky Way to spread the human race throughout the galaxy in a quest 90 Myr long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The winners<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    Led by Ya-Zhong Luo and Hong-Xin Shen, the team named NUDT-XSCC (College of Aerospace Science and Engineering, National University of Defense Technology<\/em> and State Key Laboratory of Astronautic Dynamics, Xi\u2019an Satellite Control Center<\/em>) won the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
